It is not clear that the Chapman & Hall edition of January 1881 has any special authority, since no letters referring to Trollope's correcting proofs for it survive... Also from the introduction, p. xviii: A few obvious printing errors in Maga have been silently corrected. One or two minor typographic conventions have also been modernised. Trollope's original rendering of perdu as perdoo on page 167 has of course not been corrected as it has in other resettings this century...
