dc.description.abstractBy Marsilius of Padua (whose name appears on a2r), with the assistance of Jean de Jandun. A translation, probably by William Marshall, of: Defensor pacis. Imprint from colophon. Editor's preface, signed Licentius Evangelus [pseud.] and dated 1522, is variously attributed to Beatus Rhenanus, Valentinus Curio, and Ulrich Zwingli. Quire a has an extra leaf containing a translator's note. Leaf d4 is cancelled. Leaf 140 misnumbered 1340. The last leaf bears Marshall's coat of arms on both recto and verse. Reproduction of the original in the Bodleian Library.
