| dc.description.abstract | A reissue of "Two decads of sermons" (STC 20344.7), with preliminaries cancelled and a new general title page. (1-2) "Christs counsell for ending lavv cases" (two sermons), (3) "Ephesus backsliding", (4) "A Christians free-will offering", (5) "The first fruits of the Resurrection", (6) "Gowries conspiracie", (7) "Higgaion & Selah", (8) "Hezekiahs sicknesse and recovery", (9) "Perez-Vzzah", (10) "A sermon preached on the fift of October 1624", (12) "Reverence to rulers", (13) "The draught of the brooke", (14) "Davids reioycing for Christs Resurrection", (15) "The Christians expectation", (16) "Wisedomes iustification", (17) "Heresies progresse", (18) "A plot for preferment", (19) "The patronage of angels", and (20) "Idolatrous feasting" each has separate title page dated 1636. Sermon 11, "The great prophets advent" (running title), lacks separate title page, and leaves Y2-8 are not present. Otherwise register is continuous. Sermons 1-2, 3, 9, and 10 were previously published. Sermons 5, 8, 16, 17, and 18 identified as STC 20353, 20355, 20365, 20354, and 20360 on UMI microfilm reel 1528. Reproductions of the originals in the Bodleian Library. Appears at reel 1183 (complete) and at reel 1528 (sermons 5, 8, 16, 17, 18). |
