dc.description.abstractRequesting that, in the future, the religion, rights, and liberties of the people of Maryland may be secured "under a Protestant government." William Nuthead was printer to the province from 1686 to 1694, and the only printer active in Maryland in 1689. This broadside is the earliest extant issue of the Maryland press cf. Wroth.
