dc.descriptionThis is a facsimile and transcription of Eyn Sermon von dem Elichen standt vorendert und corrigirt durch D. Martinus Luther Augustiner zu Wittenburgk. Luther, Martin, 1483-1546. [Wittenberg] : [Johann Rhau-Grunenberg], [1519]. It is held by the Staatsbibliothek Berlin Lynar S 308. The transcription was encoded in TEI P5 XML by HT_1033647. This revised version of "Eyn Sermon von dem Elichen stand" with the title "Eyn Sermon von dem Elichen standt vorendert und corrigirt durch D. Martinus Luther Augustiner zu Wittenburgk" was published by Luther through Johann Rhau-Grunenberg in Wittenberg, after Wolfgang Stöckel had published an unauthorized transcript of Luther’s first public statement on marriage in a sermon from the 16th January 1519. The revised Version does not have a woodcut on the title page and starts with a critical statement about the unauthorized transcript , asking the reader to ignore the unauthorized version. Both versions became very popular. There have been 14 editions of the revised version and even one translation into Danish. This transcription has been created on the basis of a digitization from the Staatsbibliothek Berlin under a CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 International license. Semi-Diplomatic Edition - Multiple spaces used for the justification of the printed text have been redued to single spaces in the transcription - All abbreviations have been resolved - All long s ('ſ') have been transformed to a normal s ('s').
