| dc.description.abstract | A verse translation, by Edward Reynolds, of selections from: Eikōn basilikē, the text of which is included. Authorship of the Eikon basilike was originally attributed to Charles I, but according to Madan (pp. 125-33) it was written by John Gauden who probably included some authentic writings of the king. At head of title page: Numb. 1. With a portrait of Charles I on the verso of the first leaf. Printer's name from Madan. Annotation on Thomason copy: "June 21". Reproduction of the original in the British Library. |
